Blog Writing #10.3: Noun Clauses (due Friday, 10/18)

Here is a chance for you to ask me a personal question, but you have to use a noun clause.

You can start it like this:
Holly, I'd like to know what your middle name is.

Or...
Holly, could you tell me what your middle name is?

Or... if you have another way to ask the question using a noun clause, TERRIFIC.

I'm not sure WHICH QUESTIONS I'LL ANSWER yet. Let's see what you come up with!

Ask me three questions.

  2. I would love to answer your questions, Nayef, but none of your sentences are correct, and because I'm your grammar teacher, I can only answer correct questions.

That's okay. You can try again.

  3. Could you tell what the best trip you have?

    1. Where are the other two questions? I mean, I'd like to know where the other questions are.

Regarding "the best trip I have," the noun clause is correct; however the verb inside the noun clause is incorrect. Try again. In America, you get three strikes before you're out ;)

  4. Could you tell me what the best food you like?

I'd like to know what your boys's names.

Could you tell me for how long have you been teaching English?

    1. A noun clause has a noun clause word, a subject, and a verb.

      1. What's the verb inside the noun clause (hint: "like" is part of your adjective clause describing food)?

      2. Same problem as #1.

      3. Incorrect form.

That's one strike. Three strikes and you're out!
