Quoted and reported speech from today's class


“Dad, I want to quit school and go to work,” Jim murmured.
Jim murmured to his father that he wanted to quit school and go to work.

“Jim, how would you evaluate your education?” his father asked.
His father asked Jim how he would evaluate his education.

Jim responded, “I absolutely hate going to school!”(exclamation)
Jim said that he absolutely hated going to school.

“Jim,” Frank said, “you’re crazy if you think it’s going to be easy to get a job.”
Frank told Jim he was crazy if he thought it was going to be easy.

Frank said, “Jim, don’t be a fool!” (exclamation)
Frank told Jim not to be fool.

Jim’s parents asked, “Frank, when are you going to start taking your future seriously?”
Jim’s parents asked him when he  was going to start taking his future seriously.
